SNG Bankroll project update 6

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Building, Poker Projects | 1 Comment

I have not been playing poker since my last update July 15th. The reasons are two fold: time and interest. Time It´s my holiday now, so I am trying to keep work related activities to a minimum. Why? I am actually very motivated to work on our projects at least 12 hours a day, but it can be a very useful exercise to try to keep away from work. This helps you to stay motivated and will prevent you from burning out. Interest It can become very tedious to play poker. Just sitting there grinding, Read more [...]

Poker short stack strategy and poker bankroll building

Sunday, July 27th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Building, Poker Projects | No Comments

I need to start bitching again soon since things are really not going my way these days (bitching opens a direct channel to the Gods of Poker; after bitching some begging needs to be done). Since my rocket start to my new short stack strategy, my bankroll has steadily decreased. I have made mistakes for sure, but in 99% of the hands I have played I have stuck to my short stack strategy. Perhaps it doesn't work. I am however more inclined to blame simple variance. I have been dealt slightly below Read more [...]

Poker buy in strategy – full vs short stack

Saturday, July 19th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Strategy | No Comments

I have been cleaning up in some of my old bankroll building update posts and decided to make a new post about my observations so far regarding playing with a full buyin or using a short stack strategy as the one I have described in one of my previous posts. Keep in mind that all of my observations are made in the context of poker bankroll building on low limit tables. That is, the first steps one goes through in the process of building a poker bankroll. Also keep in mind that my observations might Read more [...]

Saturday, July 19th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Management | No Comments

The next skill to look at in the series of Poker Bankroll Management Skills will be positive thinking. The concept positive thinking can be described in many different ways. My favorite definition of positive thinking is: ….a manner of thinking that puts emphasis on processing thoughts in a more desirable and upbeat way… Positive thinking could also be explained as constructive thinking resulting in a focus on what you want instead of a focus on what you don’t want. You are not into Read more [...]

SNG Bankroll project update 5.

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Building, Poker Projects | No Comments

Brief update about my SNG project. I have now played 56 SNG, which is still far to few to predict whether I am a winning player on the limit I am playing at. I am up 5$ since my last update a week ago, played 20 SNGs. That is not very satisfying, but it also becomes more and more clear that the rake is "eating" up the profit. Statistics are now: Stats so far: SNG Played: 56 Rake: $36 In the money: 38 times. 67.8%. Net profit: $49 Michael, July 15th. Bankroll project update 4. Bankroll Read more [...]

Sit and go poker bankroll project, #4

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Building, Poker Projects | No Comments

I haven't been playing as much as I hoped the previous week for several reasons. The Internet was down one of the days because the town I live in on Malta, Sliema, had an electicity break down. So no Internet for half a day. I also hit a bad run of losses. For me that is three SNG lost in a row (remember that 50% of the participants recieve a prize in the SNGs I play). My personal rule is that I stop playing if I hit such a bad run. I know three in a row is not much, but from experience I know Read more [...]

The skill – persistence – will be the next one to describe in the series of Bankroll Management skills . First a short definition of persistence: … ability to maintain action towards the goal of a project regardless of your current feelings toward the project. The ability to press on even if you fell like quitting… When done by the book, building a bankroll through bankroll management is a slow process. In addition it may seem boring at times, since you will always be accustomed to Read more [...]
