Don’t play smart against `not so smart` people

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Strategy | 8 Comments

That’s the expression right? Or is it stupid people? Either way, I can certainly relate. During the past 2 weeks I have been getting my money in good a lot and getting called by donkeys and losing a fair bit. If you're like me when you hear people say stuff like that you wonder how accurate and honest they are being so I'll give you 2 examples that happened in the same night online. During the first example I was playing a 10 cent 20 cent cash game at a table that was mostly playing tight with Read more [...]

Limit rush

Monday, September 8th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Strategy | No Comments

As you might know, I won the first PokerBRB freeroll yesterday at Poker Nordica. "Alas, I did not enter" might be your immediate response. Don't worry, we have 3 more freerolls planned for the following 3 weekends so there are still plenty of chances to beat the PokerBRB champ. What you might not already know is that I threw away my 35$ winnings in less than half an hour on a Short Stack Limit Rush. For those of you who don't know what a limit rush is, here's an explanation: A limit rush is Read more [...]

When Mistakes pay off

Saturday, September 6th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Strategy | 1 Comment

Have you ever made a tough decision pre flop that you were sure was right until everyone's cards were shown? Did that mistake pay off for you? Did it make you feel good about your call, or did you realize that you just sucked out on somebody? These are interesting questions that you have likely thought about at some point. If not, then you will after reading this post. The other day I was playing in a 12 people, 2 table Sit 'N' Go (small buy-in). When we were down to 3 (top 4 paid) an interesting Read more [...]

Jekyll/Hyde Factor

Friday, September 5th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Strategy | 4 Comments

Hey there, I'm the new guy. I'm not much for introductions and the truth is that your here for the best game on earth, so let's not waste any time; let's talk some poker...more specifically, table image. I find that it's a funny thing about these labels we attach to ourselves with such impermeable closeness that they become a permanent part of our identity. I’ve found in my travels that it is very important to know the distinct differences between them, (as well as their hybrids i.e. tight/aggressive, Read more [...]

Poker bonus back in the days

Thursday, September 4th, 2008 | Poker and Life, Poker Articles, Poker Bonus | No Comments

The story below is a recollection of my poker career since I started playing online poker in March 2005. The title is "Poker bonus back in the days" because when writing my story I truly started missing the good old bonus whoring days. In 2005 I had already been sportsbetting online since 2004; I had this great system but that's another story altogether....Anyway in 2004 only a few of the sportsbetting sites offered poker, but the poker bonuses were really good, and since I was already a certified Read more [...]

Stop the TILT, bankroll preservation

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Management | 2 Comments

Play Online Poker Bankroll Preservation There are all kinds of blogs about bankroll management. Thinking of managing your bankroll using math and percentages is great when you’re a rational thinking player. It is my belief that the most important part of being a successful poker player is controlling your bankroll when you’re losing. Tilt is probably the most used word to describe a player’s emotion at the poker table. My definition of tilt is anger at the game of poker. When on tilt, Read more [...]

Short stack strategy cash games – bankroll project

Sunday, August 31st, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Projects | 3 Comments

"Easy come easy go" seems to be the story of my life when it comes to reaching the magical 200$ poker bankroll. I was so close 3 sessions ago when I hit 197$, but I'm now down to 135$. As usual I have made a graph which clearly shows my dismal last 3 sessions. Here's how it happened (posts taken from my bankroll building thread on the PokerBRB forum) Took a beating tonight Not my best session hour ever. Lost 3 buyins (-24$) and my bankroll is now down to 171$ Lost with QQ against Read more [...]

Firstly, let me introduce myself. My name is William and I run a poker blog called Willy C's Poker Blog. I will be writing weekly on PokerBankrollBlog on thursdays, I hope you enjoy my posts! The Importance of Poker Bankroll Management One of the most important aspects of being a successful poker player, (apart from being good at poker obviously), is having good poker bankroll management skills.
