We think that no casino game can compare with poker. Yes, we might be a little biased but really, can anything truly beat the excitement and suspense of a good poker game? We don’t think so.
As we all know, poker comes in different varieties and we all have our favourites. In this article, we take a look at how to play Three Card Poker.
The History of Three Card Poker
Three Card Poker is a relatively recent creation. Derek Webb created this poker variant in 1994 and by 1997, it became patented.
Webb realised that poker didn’t match the speed of other casino games. His goal was to create a poker variant which could match the speed of other casino games.
Webb formed a business called Prime Table Games which marketed the game in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Vice President of the Mississippian Grand Casino Gulfport, Barry Morris, was the first to adopt the game after unsuccessful pitches in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
It wasn’t until 2002 that Three Card Poker made its way to the United Kingdom, after gambling regulations were changed.
Where to Play Three Card Poker Online?
You should have problem finding Three Card Poker options. Websites likes MobileSlotSites have very informative casino reviews which highlight which games are available at the casino.
This is a great place to begin your search for an online casino which offers Three Card Poker.
How to Play Three Card Poker
So, let’s get onto the information you’ve all been waiting for: how to play Three Card Poker.
The first thing to know is that Three Card Poker is a heads-up between the player and the dealer. Once the ante bets have been made, the action begins.
1. Three cards are dealt to the player and the dealer
2. Players have the option to fold or continue in the game by placing a play wager equal to their ante
3. The dealer’s hand must be a Queen high or better for the dealer hand to play
4. If the dealer doesn’t play, the ante wagers are paid 1 to 1 and there is no action taken on the play wagers
5. If the dealer does play, the two hands are compared
If the player hand loses, both of the ante and play wagers are lost. However, if the player hand wins, both the ante and play wagers are paid 1 to 1. In the event of a tie, no action is taken on either wager.
Additional Bets
There are also some additional bets which players can make use of should they wish.
The Pair Plus wager is a bet which predicts that the player’s hand will be a pair or better. The payoff for this wager applies regardless of whether the player beats the dealer or not.
Pair Plus payouts:
• Straight flush: 40/1
• Three-of-a-kind: 30:1
• Straight: 6/1
• Flush: 3/1
• Pair: 1/1
An Ante Bonus is offered at some casinos too. If you have a straight or better, you receive an ante bonus regardless of the value of the dealer’s hand.
Ante Bonus payouts:
• Straight flush: 5/1
• Three-of-a-kind: 4/1
• Straight: 1/1
