Sports and Fantasy betting
All poker players are gamblers at heart; it’s the name of the game. Sometimes you might find yourself being fed up with poker due to down swings or multiple bad beats but not fed up with gambling. Fortunately the Internet offers plenty of gambling opportunities and one of them is betting on sports. Online sports gambling with bookmakers is not legal in the US due to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 which prohibits the transfer of funds from a financial institution to an Internet gambling site. One important exception to this law is the transfer of funds to sites offering fantasy sports betting. As a result of this (and the fact that fantasy betting is a lot of fun) the fantasy sports industry is booming.
In fantasy betting your opponents are other sports bettors and the format resembles the SNG (Sit and Go) and MTT (Multi Table Tournament) formats found on poker sites. Brieftly, the object of fantasy betting competitionsis to pick a team of players within a certain sport given certain restrictions (usually an overall salary cap). Depending on your player’s performances during the games played, you score points counting towards your overall placement in the competition.
Fantasy betting competitions run from single match days to full seasons, so there’s plenty to choose from.
