Top 5 Poker hands on Youtube
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 | Poker Articles, Poker Pro, Poker Top 10 Lists | 1 Comment
Submitted by Thomas, this article belongs to the Poker Top 10 list series.
There are thousands of poker hands on Youtube, but the 5 poker hands below are definitely spectacular enough to belong on a top 5 poker hands on Youtube list.
James Akenhead vs Grant Hinkle
This hand takes place at the heads-up stage of a $1,500 No-limit Hold’em event at the 2008 and see England’s James Akenhead locking horns with America’s Grant Hinkle.
Akenhead had been much the better player heads-up and Hinkle was starting to feel the pressure and made a preflop raise to 350,000 holding the lowly hand of Td4d. Akenhead looked down and found AcKh and made it $1,200,000 to play, prompting Hinkle to move all-in on a bluff. Akenhead instantly called and was in good shape to take a 10:1 chip lead.
However, the flop completely changed that as it came down ThTs4h, giving Hinkle a full house. To make matters worse the turn was the last ten in the deck, giving Hinkle quad tens, the win and $831,279. Akenhead had to make do with the $520,219 runner-up prize money.
This hand shows the great hand reading skills of Phil Ivey, arguably the best poker player ever. The hand takes place at the heads-up stage of the 2005 Monte Carlo Millions and sees Ivey hold a 4:1 chip lead over Paul Jackson.
Jackson open-limps on the button with 6s5d and Ivey raises to 60,000 with Qh8h, which Jackson calls. The flop of JcJh7c misses both players but they both decide they want the pot and start bluffing at each other. Ivey starts proceedings by firing out 80,000, prompting Jackson to make it 170,000. Not to be outdone, Ivey makes another raise, this time to 320,000 but amazingly Jackson does not give up, instead makes it 470,000 to play!
Ivey goes into the tank for a minute or so before announcing he is all-in, causing Jackson to quickly release his hand. A truly remarkable hand.
After fighting his way back from a 3:1 chip disadvantage to lead by 2:1 at the Caribbean Adventure, Ryan Daut – who is a coach for one of the leaders in online poker tutorials- completed in the small blind with 7c5s and his opponent, Isaac Haxton checked with the second worst heads-up hand possible, 3d2d.
The flop missed both players completely and Haxton check/called a 300,000 bet from Daut. The turn brought the King of diamonds, making the board Qh4hAcKd and both players checked. But when the Qc arrived on the river both players thought they were entitled to the already substantial pot.
Haxton attempted to buy the pot by betting 700,000 but Daut quickly made it 2,000,000 to go. Haxton hung his head on the table and thought for around 90 seconds before announcing he was all in. There was no way Daut could call with his seven-high and he quickly mucked before being shown the extraordinary bluff from Haxton.
Oliver Hudson, son of actress Goldie Hawn, was eliminated on the very first hand of the 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event at the hands of Sammy Farha.
Farha opened to 200 holding AhTd and Hudson, liking his black tens, made it 450, a bet that Farha called. The flop was an unbelievable AcAdTh giving both players a full house! Both elected to slowplay their hand and check but the fireworks started with the arrival of the Qc on the turn.
First Hudson lead out for 300, Farha quickly raised to 1,300 and Hudson moved all-in. Farha instantly called and when both players revealed their hands it was apparent Hudson was drawing completely dead. $10,000 wasted in less than five minutes!
Jennifer Harman vs Corey Zeidman
Corey Zeidman inflicted a true bad beat on Jennifer Harman during the 2005 WSOP Main Event. Harman raised preflop to 200 holding QdQc and was called by Zeidman with 9d8d and Davis with As6d.
The flop came down TsJdQh, giving Harman a set of queens and Zeidman a flopped straight. Davis checked then folded after seeing Harman bet 500, Zeidman raise to 2,000 and Harman call. The turn was the ten of diamonds, filling Harman’s set into a full house and making her an almost certain winner in the hand. Zeidman lead out for 1,000 and Harman raised to 3,000. After much deliberation Zeidman called, not knowing he only had one card that could win him the pot.
Amazingly it arrives on the river in the shape of the 7d, giving him a straight flush! Harman bet 3,000 which was enough to put her opponent all-in, and he obviously quickly called and showed the nuts, prompting Harman to leave her seat at the table in disbelief.

How did Gus Hansen build his poker bankroll?
Sunday, February 14th, 2010 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Building, Poker Pro | 2 Comments
This article belongs to the Poker Pro series
Gustav Hansen, or Gus Hansen as he’s known on the World’s poker scene, belongs to the poker superstars along with names such as Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson and Daniel Negreanu to name a few.
Gus Hansen aka “The great Dane” was born just outside Copenhagen on February 13th 1974. Since then he has undoubtedly become the most famous Danish poker player throughout the times.
In this article I will sum up how Gus Hansen built his poker bankroll, which currently allows him to play in all the major live tournaments as well as the highest online games on Full Tilt poker.
Gus Hansen in his early gambling days
In the 1990s Gus Hansen traveled around with a group of guys from Denmark trying to build a bankroll and making a living playing backgammon. The group was known as “The Danish Backgammon Boys” and they were almost always stuck. Gus had the wildest swings of the lot, one week up a million and the next week down a million. Despite his bankroll swings, Gus always remained positive. As long as the games kept rolling he was convinced everything would work out. Many of you probably don’t know that Rasmus Nøhr, currently a well known Danish musician, was one of backgammon players in the group. Rasmus Nøhr quit the backgammon scene in the late 1990s in favor of pursuing a career as a chef. This was around the same time Gus Hansen moved to Las Vegas with a very small bankroll and a plan to increase it on the poker tables, which he believed to have a future. Rasmus Nøhr did not succeed as a chef and actually lived on the streets for some time until his music career took off. Gus Hansen was the first to invest in Rasmus Nøhr’s career by founding the recording company “Rec og Kort” and signing Rasmus as his first artist. Unfortunately the album “The happy pizza delivery guy” was never released and Gus Hansen shut down “Rec og Kort” to concentrate on his poker career in the states.
Gus Hansen’s achievements
Gus Hansen’s bankroll has increased significantly through his many cashes in major live tournaments. Since 2002 Gus Hansen has made in excess of a whopping 7500000$ in live tournament winnings. Pretty sweet bankroll boost if you ask me
. Here’s a list of Gus Hansen’s biggest bankroll boosts:
- 2003 WPT L.A. Poker Classic, 1st prize 507190$
- 2003 WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic, 1st prize 556480$
- 2004 WPT PokerStars Carribean Adventure, 1st prize 455780$
- 2007 Aussie Millions, 1st prize 1500000$
- 2008 WPT World Championship, 2nd prize 1714800$
Another great bankroll boost came when Gus Hansen sold his stake in the online poker room pokerchamps.com. The site and software was sold to Betfair for roughly 15 million $.
Finally, although it did not increase Gus Hansen’s bankroll, I’m sure his street credibility climbed when he was accepted into the Poker Walk of Fame together with the godfather of poker Doyle Brunson and legendary James Garner from one of the all time greatest poker movies “Maverick”. To this day no other poker player has been accepted into the Poker Walk of Fame.
Gus Hansen’s recent year
Gus Hansen’s bankroll took quite a beating in 2009 on the highest stake Full Tilt poker tables. According to highstakesdb.com, Gus Hansen lost almost 6 million $ online in 2009. And with no major live tournament wins under his belt either, 2009 was a terrible year for The Great Dane. In December 2009 Gus Hansen decided to take a break from online poker to study his game and it seemed like this has helped. So far in 2010 he has increased his bankroll with more than 2 million $.
Gus Hansen’s weaknesses
Gus Hansen is a gambler at heart and as a result his bankroll takes some wild swings from time to time. He likes to bet on almost everything and has lost a lot of money on large sports bets and in the high stakes live cash games in “Bobby’s Room”, the high stakes venue at the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas.
Some of the more humorous bets Gus has made include:
- A 200000$ tennis game vs. fellow poker pro Patrick Antonius. I don’t actually know if the game was ever played. Rumors have it that Patrick Antonius backed out of the bet due to an injury.
- A 35000$ boxing match against his good friend Theo Jørgensen. Gus Hansen lost this match. You can easily find it on Youtube along with this gem where Gus Hansen and Mike Matusow bet on a game of tennis.
- When playing high stakes poker in late 2009 against Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Antonio Esfandiari, Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan and Eli Elazra, Gus Hansen was offered 2 million $ bet if he could stay away from sex in one full year. The guys could not agree on the terms of the bet, so Gus Hansen ended up declining it.
Despite Gus Hansen’s large bankroll swings, I’m pretty sure he has a good amount of cash set aside for his retirement if he goes broke again. I wish him the best of luck in 2010.

All In Poker Radio Show 19- Mike “The Force” Eise at WPT – Vanessa Rousso on Poker Training
Thursday, September 3rd, 2009 | Poker Articles, Poker News, Poker Pro | 1 Comment
This is the 10th installment of the weekly All in Poker Radio Show resume series I have planned for the Poker Bankroll blog.
The All in Poker Radio show is hosted by Vic Porcelli who is joined in the studio by Big Slick Andy Kazen, The Young Gun Aggressor Craig Hogard and The Insider Cody Duffey. Produced by Game On Network Entertainment the show can be downloaded as podcast at All In Podomatic and listened to live each Saturday through the Team 1380 website.
In show 19 the crew interviews Mike Eise, WSOP 2009 bracelet winner, and poker babe and brainiac Vanessa Rousso.
Highlights:
Andy “Big Slick” Kazen is back on his seat which was kept warm by Mike Eise while Andy toured the country during his holiday!
As in most shows, Vic and his crew spend quite some time complimenting Dan Harrington. You guys sure like him! What about Gus Hansen? You never mention him and he would run circles around Dan Harrington
You will also hear about the Ante up for Africa charity event that included celebrities such as Matt Damon and Ben Affleck at the tables. Apparent people playing against Matt Damon think he is as good as the character he plays in the great poker movie Rounders. The blinds went up fast in the tournament making for plenty of loose play and Chris Moneymaker as the chip leader on the final table with only 10xBB.
One a side (and a bit primal) note all the guys in the studio agreed that Jennifer Harman looks good these days. Cody said it best: “Slutty girls look hot” referring to Jennifer’s eye makeup I think.
Mike Eise joins the show live from the WPT event at the Bicycle casino in Los Angeles. Mike knocked out poker legend Barbara Enright in a 100$ tournament. Barbara Enright is the only woman ever to make the final table at a WSOP Main Event (back in 1995) and has been in the game long enough to have great stories about all the legendary poker players including Stu Ungar. The best comment of the show came up when Mike talked about some guy who sucked out on him in another tournament: “That horse shoe is deep in his butt I think”. Great comment.
As usual on the show you will hear the WSOP classic clip and the “Does he have the nuts or is he just nuts” bit. Relive the famous Jennifer Harman bad beat against Cory Zeidman at the 2005 WSOP main event and find out whether Tom McEvoy actually had a better hand when he re-raised Carlos Mortensen all in in the 2009 WSOP Champions Invitational Event.
Finally Vanessa Rousso talks about her Big Slick Poker Strategy boot camp and the tournament results that have given her 1,5 million $ in winnings this year alone. Vanessa Rousso is both intelligent, a gifted poker player and smoking hot!!!

All In Poker Radio Show 18 – Back to basics with just Vic, Craig, Cody and Andy
Friday, August 21st, 2009 | Poker Articles, Poker News, Poker Pro | 1 Comment
This is the 9th installment of the weekly All in Poker Radio Show resume series I have planned for the Poker Bankroll blog.
In show 18 Vic and the guys go back to basics and discuss poker related issues without guests in the studio.
Highlights from show 18
Most of the show is spent talking about the 40000$ buy in anniversary event won by Vitaly Lunkin and the champions invitational event won by Tom McEvoy. Both tournaments took place at this year’s WSOP. During their coverage of the two event there is a particularly funny bit about Phil Hellmuth and his relationship to his mom. Interestingly one of the keys to Phil Hellmuth’s success is that he underestimates the value of his hands. This means that he often avoids situations where other players would lose their stack with top pair against a made set or two pair. Also some great poker plays are discussed in particular a hand in which Dan Harrington knocked out Peter Eastgate. Vic especially is very fond of Dan Harrington who among a long list of accomplishments made the squeeze play famous at the 2004 WSOP final table.
In their WSOP classic clip regular feature a hand is replayed from the 40000$ buy in WSOP anniversary event where Greg Raymer holding pocket 6s is up against Isaac Haxton holding pocket Js. As Vic smugly points out: “It doesn’t have to be old to be classic”. I was a bit disappointed to hear the “Does he have the nuts or is he just nuts” bit this week. You mentioned the hand between David Suharto and Ivan Demidov from the 2008 WSOP main event a couple of weeks ago on the show. I’m sure there are plenty of other hands to choose from for this particular piece.
You should also listen to show 18 if you want to learn more about poker player levels, how to play small pocket pairs and how to use the online hand history features to your advantage.

All In Poker Radio Show 17 – Mike Eise (WSOP Bracelet Champion in Studio) – Heartland Poker Tour and Fred Bevill heads to St . Louis
Friday, August 7th, 2009 | Poker Articles, Poker News, Poker Pro | No Comments
This is the 8th installment of the weekly All in Poker Radio Show resume series I have planned for the Poker Bankroll blog.
In show 17 Vic and the guys are joined in the studio by Mike Eise “The CLINT EASTWOOD of Poker” and Fred Bevill.
Highlights from show 17
- Vic and the guys talk to Mike Eise, winner of a WSOP bracelet this year. Some good points are made. Mike’s definition of being lucky in a tournament is that your good hands hold up. If you’re drawing out on people you are playing badly. He hardly ever puts his tournament life on line with coinflips. Live tournament play is a lot different than online tournament play in this respect. The rapidly increasing blinds force you to take chances and seek out coinflip situations.
- Fred Bevill talks about the Heartland “real people, unreal money” Poker Tour which is soon coming to St. Louis. The Heartland Poker Tour is known as the event where average Joe players can get the chance to win big money in main events where the final table is televised. 90% of the Main Event field have qualified through satellite tournaments. Fred Bevill’s background as a stand up comedian shines through when he makes the following statement: Poker is one of few sports where you can sit down and play with the best in the game. Calling poker a sport….now that’s funny!
- Vic treated us with one of the best poker quotes ever made from Tom McEvoy: “Poker is not a card game with people it’s a people game with cards”. Great quote…
- WSOP classic clip. 2006 WSOP 50000$ buyin HORSE event. Andy Bloch vs. Chip Reese are heads up for the bracelet.
- Vic and the guys talk about playing face cards such as KQ, QJ etc. The essence is: don’t play face cards early in long live events if you’re not able to lay them down on a flop where you hit top pair but face opposition. These hands can get you into a whole lot of trouble.
- Mike Eise talks about playing the WSOP Main Event. His experience was that there is no need to rush things if you are ever lucky enough to play in this tournament. There is plenty of time to sit tight and be patient. In any case long events are a serious grind where you will be playing up to 14 hours of poker a day. You might as well get used to being patient.
- Does he have the nuts or is he just nuts? 2007 WSOP Main Event final table. Jerry Yang is putting the pressure on John Kalmer. Does Jerry have the nuts or is he just nuts? Check out the show to find out.

All In Poker Radio Show 16 – Mark talks Poker skill levels and Harrah’s Brian Grote talks WSOP Circuit
Sunday, August 2nd, 2009 | Poker Articles, Poker News, Poker Pro | 4 Comments
This is the seventh installment of the weekly All in Poker Radio Show resume series I have planned for the Poker Bankroll blog.
In show 16 Vic and the guys are joined in the studio by Mark from The Poker Bankroll Blog (Yeah that’s me!!!) and Brian Grote of Harrah’s St Louis.
Highlights from show 16
- Only No Limit Hold’em events from the WSOP will be televised. However, more of the Main Event will be telecast this year than ever before. This means that we will get to see a lot more of the play that goes on early in the Main Event
- Vic should put up his “wooooow” exclamations as a ring or text tone. They are great!
- Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars recently went head to head to beat the world record for most players taking part in an online tournament. Full Tilt Poker managed 50000 players at a 5$ buyin. Poker Stars beat Full Tilt Poker with 15000 players in their 1$ tournament. Vic played the Full Tilt Poker event and finished in a very decent 2103rd place taking down 30$ for his 5$ buyin.
- St. Louis will be hosting a WSOP circuit event in April next year. WSOP circuit events are held around the US during the year and function as build ups to the actual WSOP event. The main event at the St. Louis WSOP circuit event will be a 5000$ buyin No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament. The event calendar will be published by October 1st this year.
- WSOP classic clip: 2008 WSOP bracelet event. James Aikenhead vs. Grant Hinkle are heads up in the final. Hinkle raises with 10 4 diamonds. Aikenhead re-raises with AK. Hinkle pushes all in and Aikenhead instant calls. Flop is an amazing 10 4 10 and the turn is a 10 giving Hinkle the win.
- Vic and the guys talk poker playing styles.
- I talk about poker player levels and the Poker Bankroll Blog in general.
- Cody Duffey asks everyone to go to the Poker Petition website and give them the support they need. The petition is to legalize online poker in the US.
- Does he have the nuts or is he just nuts? This time we revisit the 2009 WSOP Main Event. Darius Suharto is up against Ivan Demidov (who would late comes in second place after Peter Eastgate).

All In Poker Radio Show 15 – Doug Campbell Cashes in the WSOP Main Event – Jonathan Little (SNGICONS.com)
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 | Poker Articles, Poker News, Poker Pro | No Comments
This is the sixth installment of the weekly All in Poker Radio Show resume series I have planned for the Poker Bankroll blog.
In show 15 Vic and the guys are joined in the studio by Doug Campbell who recently cashed in the WSOP Championship Main Event and Jonathan Little from SNGICONS.com.
Highlights from Show 15
- Judging from the amounts of traffic to the WSOP official website during the final elimination to 9 players in the WSOP Main Event, there is no drop in poker popularity in the US
- Phil Ivey is one of the 9 finalists. Everyone’s rooting for him in the studio except for Craig or Cody (sorry guys, you sound alike on the radio).
- Vic has a lot to say about how he prefers poker players to be stoic at the tables and not display any emotion. Personally I think that’s a bit boring and I don’t think I will ever be able to do it. According to Jonathan Little there is also an added benefit of being flamboyant at the live tables. Loud players tend to get better sponsorship deals.
- Jonathan Little answers the 10 random questions for poker players. Jonathan thinks Annette_15 is the best female poker player. I disagree, mostly because Anette has never answered my tweets on Twitter. Best poker book: “The theory of poker” by Davis Sklansky. Great book!!!
- WSOP classic clip from WSOP Main Event 2007. “Miami” John Cernuto vs. Dave Backstrom. Miami John sounds like a bad ass gangster. Funny stuff.
- Vic and the guys discuss how to play weak aces. Most of them agree that A9 or below qualifies as a weak ace. Craig rather unconventionally considers A3 weaker than A9 since with A3 you have the possibility of hitting the low straight. IMO I wouldn’t play weak aces early in tournaments unless you are a comfortable post flop player. Later in tournaments however, any hand with an Ace becomes playable depending on the circumstances. LOL, just realized that any hand is playable depending on the circumstances.
- Doug Campbell from St. Louis recently cashed in the WSOP Main Event and it sounds like he had a great time playing some good poker, meeting poker celebrities and even placing his hand on Annie Duke’s butt. In addition Doug picked up some pretty good tells on his opponents during the tournament. There’s a good lesson to be learned here: In live games, don’t look at your cards before it’s your turn. This way you prevent players from making tells on you.
- Does he have the nuts, or his he nuts? Erik Lindgren vs. Julian Meer.

All In Poker Radio Show 14 – Jonathan Little (SNGICONS.com) – Michael Craig’s WSOP RAZZ Cash
Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009 | Poker Articles, Poker News, Poker Pro | No Comments
This is the fifth installment of the weekly All in Poker Radio Show resume series I have planned for the Poker Bankroll blog.
In show 14 Vic and the guys are joined in the studio by Michael Craig author of “The Professor, the Banker, and the Suicide King”, who recently finished in second place in the WSOP Razz championship and Jonathan Little from SNGICONS.com.
WSOP updates: 0:00 – 25:00
Apparently a lot of players showed up for the 4th and final day of registration for the Main Event, so many that some pretty big names such as Patrick Antonius were turned down.
So if you want to play in next year’s WSOP Championship Main Event, make sure you register in time.
There should be some good entertainment once the Main Event hits the air. Apparently Phil Helmuth and Josh Arieh have a go at each other on one of the tables.
Jonathan Little was doing well in the WSOP Main Event with 100000 chips while the average for the tournament was 40000 chips. Unfortunately he got moved to a new table where the table average was 150000 chips and lost with a straight and flush draw against top pair. On a side note, according to Jonathan, WPT events are a lot better structured than WSOP events. I will keep that in mind if I ever get a big enough bankroll to play large live events.
Jonathan had a good tip on how to avoid being tilted by annoying players on live tables. Bring your favorite music and just put on your headphones to block out the player comments.
If you want to have your SNG or MTT play scrutinized by poker experts you should sign-up at SNGICONS.com
WSOP classic clip: 25:00 – 27:00
2008 WSOP Main Event. Phil Helmuth plays a pot with QQ against Kathleen Gliva and Gil George. Flop is 794 giving Gil both straight and flush draws with his J10. Phil bets 4500 and Gil moves all in. Phil takes down the pot and boy is he happy.
Playing suited connectors: 29:00 – 32:00
Suited connectors such as 78 diamonds, 910 clubs etc are great hands to get in cheap in a pot with the chance of taking down a big pot if you hit the flop. Most of the guys prefer to limp in late with suited connectors, however Andy sometimes likes to raise with suited connectors as it disguises the hand well. IMO suited connectors are great hands to make moves on players with similar stack size to yours later in tournaments. Forget about trying to steal pots with them early in tournaments since most of your opponents will not lay down hands that for example give them a pair on the flop.
Interview with Michael Craig: 35:00 – end
Michael Craig talks about playing Jeffrey Lisandro heads up in the final of the 2500$ buyin 7 card Razz WSOP tournament. Apparently Jeffrey Lisandro looks very much like Tony Soprano and is quite intimidating at the tables.
Razz sounds like a game I will never learn to understand.

All In Poker Radio Show 13 – Jonathan Little (SNGICONS.com) – Alan Zola Kronzek (52 Ways To Cheat At Poker) – Mike Matusow (Check RaisingThe Devil)
Thursday, July 9th, 2009 | Poker Articles, Poker News, Poker Pro | 2 Comments
This is the fourth installment of the weekly All in Poker Radio Show resume series I have planned for the Poker Bankroll blog.
In show 13 Vic and the guys are joined by Kevin “Irish” Smith, Jonathan Little of SNGICONS.com, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow famous poker pro and author of “Check raising the devil” and Alan Zola Kronzek author of the book “52 Ways to Cheat at Poker – How to Spot Them, Foil Them, and Protect Yourself Against Them.”
WSOP updates 0:00 – 21:00
The WSOP main event has started and the field this year looks to have decreased in participation numbers from the previous years of record setting fields. Has the financial crisis hit the WSOP?
Kevin Smith believes that the smaller field this year is due to a combination of the interest in poker having peaked and the crisis in the economy. However the day that online poker becomes legislated and regulated in the US, the WSOP participation numbers could explode again.
Vic doesn’t think interest in poker is dwindling in the US. The famous US newspaper “USA today” had an entire pull out section about the WSOP which indicates that the popularity of poker is still high.
While talking to Jonathan Little who is currently playing at the WSOP main event, the question arose how early in a tournament you should be prepared to put your life on the line with a coinflip.
According to Jonathan it is difficult to know if youre getting your money in as a coinflip. In general however all you can do is get your money in good.
I have been thinking about the same thing lately in the context of low stakes online MTTs and have come to the conclusion that you should not go all in before the middle or later stages of the game unless you are pretty sure your opponent will fold or you have better cards than him.
Coming back to the WSOP Jonathan’s highlight this year is the fact that more pros have won bracelets due to slightly smaller fields and better tournament structures (100BB starting stacks)
WSOP Classic Clip 22:00 – 25:00
Mike “The Mouth” Matusow vs. Greg “The Fossilman” Raymer in the WSOP 2004 main event
52 ways to cheat at poker 26:00 – 35:00
Alan Kronzek talks about his book: “52 Ways to Cheat at Poker – How to Spot Them, Foil Them, and Protect Yourself Against Them.”
Read the book and get great advice on how to avoid poker cheats in poker home games and in casinos.
Part two of the interview with Mike “The Mouth” Matusow 39:00 – 44
I will leave you with one of my favorite Matusow quotes: “I play to win baby, I play to win. You’ve got to get 26 million chips to win. I play to win”
Does he have the nuts or is he just nuts? 45:00 – end
Daniel Negreanu is heads up against Phil Laak in high stakes poker. Flop is QJx and Phil makes a large flop bet. Daniel sighs in disbelief muttering something along the lines “The brutality…the brutality” and then reraises Phil’s flop bet. Does Daniel Negreanu have the nuts or is he just nuts?
Go to All In Podomatic and find out.

All In Poker Radio Show 12 – Jonathan Little (SNGICONS.com) – Mark (Poker Bankroll Blog) – Mike Matusow (Check RaisingThe Devil)

In show 12 Vic and the guys (now guest starring Paul “Hollywood” Peterson) are joined by Jonathan Little of SNGICONS.com, Mark (that’s me!!!) from Poker Bankroll Blog and Mike “The Mouth” Matusow famous poker pro and author of “Check raising the devil”.
The All In Radio Poker Show team’s weekly results 0:00-6:00
Craig played aggressive this week even for his standards and didn’t do too well. In one tournament he actually busted out in the 1st hand with JJ against AQ all in preflop. Good to see it happens to others as well.
Paul mostly played freerolls and a good point was made by Craig I believe that “goofing around online” in freeroll and low buyin tournaments will develop you as a poker player since the more hands you see, the more experience you get.
Vic played Full Tilts SNG madness and qualified to a 50000$ guaranteed tourney. In the same sentence he whipped up a couple of bad beat stories despite his crusade to eliminate them. What can I say….join the dark side Vic LOL.
WSOP update with Jonathan Little 6:00-23:00
Jonathan Little was asked how he plays pocket 10’s in different situations, here’s what he answered.
- Raise if you are in middle position and no one has entered the pot before you
- Raise 5-7BB if you are in middle position and have two or three limpers before you. Fold if you get limp re-raised
- Call if there is a raise behind you and see if you can catch a good flop
Jonathan does not like re-raising in the third situation:
“You are only going to get a lot of action when you are beat and you are going to be beat a lot more often than not” which I think is very true.
Jonathan also advised Vic to loosen up his game. In MTT’s you have to end up in the top 99% to get real money, so you need to add more variance to you game.
WSOP classic clip 23:00-27:30
Peter Eastgate vs. Ivan Demidov in the 2008 WSOP Main Event final. Peter Eastgate won with a straight on the turn against Demidov’s two pair.
Interview with Mark from Poker Bankroll Blog 27:30-36:00
My 10 minutes of fame. I talk about two articles from the blog namely The Poker Bestiary and Loco Poker. Vic and the guys seemed to like the interview, so I am pretty sure I will be on the air again mid July.
Interview with Mike “The Mouth Matusow” 36:00-46:00
Mike Matusow has a new book out titled “check raising the devil” where he shares his life’s experiences. It’s been a tough life with drug and alcohol problems, jail time, ADHD and Bi Polar condition.
Read the book and discover that the life of a Poker Pro is not a luxurious as it’s cut out to be.
During the interview the now famous fold made by Romanello in the WSOP 2008 main event was mentioned. You have to check this out on You Tube. Romanello folded JJ on a AJK1010 flop against Geller’s KK.
Does he have the nuts or is he just nuts? 46:00-50:00
In this soon to be classic radio show piece we join Roland de Wolfe and Justin Bonomo in the WSOP 2008 5000$ buyin Mixed Hold’em event.
Roland de Wolfe has pocket 6s and calls both flop and turn bets made by Justin Bonomo on a 8872Q board.
Justin makes a massive 200000 chip river bet, but does he have the nuts or is he just nuts?
